"Youth, an age of madness and dreams, poetry and stupidity."

Gustave Flaubert

In partnership with Quai de la Photo and as part of the Biennale de la photographie de la Marie du 13e, Polka galerie and its factory present the work of two photographers, Janine Niépce and Emma Ball-Greene.

Two women, two generations. The first could have been the grandmother of the second. No matter. When you love, you don't count, especially not age. The exhibition you're about to discover is all about love. Not love between people, but more broadly love of life and the springtime of our lives.

As the theme of this year's Biennale du 13e is "Childhood, adolescence and youth", Polka had the idea of celebrating the notion of youth in the broadest sense through the work of two of its artists. From March 27 to May 27, 2024, you'll discover a selection of some sixty images on the two levels of the Quai de la photo. Janine Niépce and Emma Ball-Greene may never have met, but both share a spontaneous, direct style. As you look through the photos and through their eyes, appreciate the spice of life, savored in small pinches. This period is as exciting as it is upsetting, the breeding ground of all aspirations and inspirations, the phase of all questioning, the time of learning, of the little things that warm hearts, the time of follies and doubts, of the first sentimental emotions before the big leap into the whirlwind of life.

Curated by Dimitri Beck of Polka and Victor Moullin of Polka Factory

Public preview on Wednesday March 27 from 6pm.
